Training Enterprise Program (TEP)
Marketing comes alive in NYP due to TEP!!
Future marketers are able to use what they have learn to excel in TEP!!
So what is TEP??
The cornerstone of the School of Business Management's (SBM) practice-based teaching is our Teaching Enterprise Project (TEP) concept.
It is a very unique and innovative concept of training where students undergo practice-based learning through attachments with real business centres within the campus.
It is a very unique and innovative concept of training where students undergo practice-based learning through attachments with real business centres within the campus.
The concept involves simulating authentic industry environment and facilities within the campus, so that students are trained on the latest equipment and follow actual industry practices. They have the opportunity to work on industry-commissioned projects, supervised by staff with extensive industry experience. Business students are scheduled to operate real business centres set up in the campus by the School of Business Management .
These business centres include Centre for Business Innovation (CBI), Customer Relationship Management Call Centre (CRMCC), International Business Resource Centre (IBRC), Marketing Services Centre (MSC) and Business Services Unit (BSU), amongst others. These businesses provide a platform for actual hands-on training for our students.

In this Stopover, we learn to make cold call, look for supplier and and work with them. Meet up supplier tell them about out proposal and allow them to come to NYP and carry out an event together!!!
Before the Event, we would learn many other thing such as planning of logistics, A&P and many other thing. Ensure that before the event start, everything is well organise and well prepare. Not forgetting, manpower!! Without them, the event would not be able to carry out!!!

E-Learning Development Centre (ELDC)
E-Learning Service Centre (ELDC) – Students will be taught the functionality of the latest software such as Adobe Flash and Photoshop, to do entrepreneurial projects and develop e-learning solutions for industry clients and SBM staff. They also learn to create customised multimedia presentations, knowledge management systems, designs and develop e-cases. They will be well-equipped with essential IT skills when they graduate.
(a) Create a self-introduction using FlashI was given the task of applying whatever I’ve learnt in the first two weeks spent at E-Learning Development Centre (ELDC) to create a self-introduction using Flash software. Through this project, I’ve learnt the art of putting the skills that I’ve learnt into good use in order to produce an end product that will look good.
(b) Share a new skill (Adobe Photoshop/Flash) that has not been taught by the supervisorsI was given the task of sharing a new skill, either about Adobe Photoshop or Flash that has not been taught by the supervisors. I did my research through the net and found a skill that might be useful to the class. After learning the skill myself, I created a video on it and shared with everyone this new skill.
(c) Client project (TEP Orientation MM 2010)I was given the opportunity to handle a client project along with two other team-mates. We were supposed to brainstorm and come up with ideas for this year’s TEP Orientation MM. Through this project, I’ve learnt how to work along with different people. Each of us has our very own strengths and weaknesses. Through this, I learnt how to work alongside with different people and to accept the different ideas each of us have.
Business Service Centre (BSC)
Business Service Centre (BSC) – It is an integral part of TEP which supports students related services and clients’ project management. Students job scope include preliminary planning, data collection, verification, analysis and final presentation to the clients.
Throughout my 9 weeks in BSC, I was exposed to 3 different projects, 2 being client-based and 1 being an internal NYP project.
My first client project was for a government company and I was given the task of partnering with another team member and to survey people from different walks of life about a recent marketing campaign that they were working on. After collecting the data results, I also had to do data entry for further data analysis which was done by the project managers.
My second client project was done together with another group member of mine, to lead three teams in this mystery calling and shopping project for our client. I had to work closely with my c0-project leader and we started the ball rolling by researching on Extra Space and their competitors, what services they provide and the contact details for the different branches that they have. Next, we gave a briefing to the teams and began planning the mystery shopping and calling schedules, making sure every single one is happy with their pairs and has a part to play throughout the whole process.

Lastly, in the internal project, I was given the task of surveying students from different institutions about the topic that my team has chose to work on, “How satisfied are you with your life?” After collecting the data results, I also had to do data entry followed by data analysis which will have to presented at the end.
